Travelling to Argyll
Please remember as a rural area the roads in Argyll are frequently populated by slow-moving farm vehicles, animals, cyclists, motorcyclists and walkers.
110 miles west of Glasgow on the A83, a drive to Kintyre takes 3.5 – 4 hours. Follow signs for Campbeltown then Carradale, B842.
There are two ways to get to Ifferdale farm:
1. Turn off the A83 six miles past Tarbert and take the Skipness road B8001 following signs for Carradale. We are 5 miles south of Carradale . As you descend Saddell school house brae the farm can be reached 1.5miles along the unmetalled road on your right.
2. Continue past Tarbert down the A83 to Campbeltown then take High Askomil road B842 through Peninver village and onto Saddell 10 miles north of Campbeltown .Pass by Saddell village and about 500 mts on your left is the unmetalled road leading to the farm .
Option 1 the Skipness road (B8001) cuts approximately 20 minutes off your journey but is a single-track road so extra care is required. However, it’s a great chance to see some of the beautiful Kintyre countryside and there are some tourist spots along the way.
