Walking & Hiking
Kintyre boasts some amazing walks for all abilities. Some of particular mention include:
Campbeltown to Davaar Island - You must check tide times at the Tourist Office before setting off for Davaar Island, as it is only accessible at low tide. However, it is possible to cross to the island, have a wander around and walk back within a few hours. Follow the beach around to the left and check out the caves. One holds a spooky secret.
Westport to Machrihanish - An extended dawdle along these two adjoining sandy beaches on the Atlantic Coast. Can take from 1 hour to as long as you want! Westport is a favourite spot for surfers, Machrihanish attracts windsurfers and canoeists, and has a few lovely places to refuel at the end of your walk!
Carradale has a beautiful picturesque fishing harbour. Campbeltown has a larger harbour and pontoons. Campbeltown Harbour Master 01586 552552.
